Black Cumin Seeds provide many wonderful health benefits

by Tony Isaacs

(NaturalNews) The prophet Mohammad reportedly said that seeds of the black cumin plant could cure anything but death itself. While that may seem to be quite the tall order, black cumin (Nigella sativa) does in fact have remarkable healing and health properties that make it one of the most powerful medicinal plants known to man.

Black cumin is a part of the buttercup family and the seeds are dark, thin, and crescent-shaped when whole. The seeds have been used for many centuries in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and India. Today, black cumin seeds are used as a seasoning spice in different cuisines across the world due to their nutty flavor. Besides their culinary uses, black cumin seeds also have a wealth of important health benefits and are one of the most cherished medicinal seeds in history.

The seeds of the black cumin plant contain over 100 chemical compounds, including some yet to be identified. In addition to what is believed to be the primary active ingredient, crystalline nigellone, black cumin seeds contain: thymoquinone, beta sitosterol, myristic acid, palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, arachidonic acid, protein, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, folic acid, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorous.

Black cumin seeds have a particularly long and strong history use in Egypt. When archaeologists found and examined the tomb of Egyptian boy-king Tutankhamen (King Tut), they found a bottle of black cumin oil, which suggested that it was believed to be needed in the afterlife.

Physicians to the Egyptian pharaohs frequently used the seeds after extravagant feasts to calm upset stomachs. They also used the seeds to treat headaches, toothaches, colds, and infections. Queen Nefertiti, renowned for her stunning beauty, used black seed oil, likely due to its abilities to strengthen and bring luster to hair and nails.

Hundreds of studies have been conducted on black cumin which have shown that compounds from the seeds help fight diseases by boosting the production of bone marrow, natural interferon, and immune cells.

Several of the studies have shown that black cumin seed extract could assist individuals with autoimmune disorders and could possibly help to fight cancer. One recent study on black cumin seed oil demonstrated that it was effective against pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest and most difficult to treat cancers.

See: www.naturalnews.com/023348.html

Black cumin is one of the very few botanicals that have shown such effectiveness (the other most notable one is oleander extract).

One of black cumin’s most popular and effective uses is the treatment of diseases related to the respiratory system: including asthma, bronchitis, rheumatism and cold symptoms. The seeds help increase body tone, stimulate menstrual period, and increase the flow of breast milk in nursing mothers.

Black cumin seed oil helps calm the nervous system, quells colic pain, stimulates urine production, helps treat pertussis, improves digestion and helps prevent and lower high blood pressure.

The seeds are very effective in curing abscesses and tumors of the eye, abdomen and liver, probably due in great part to the anti-tumor compound beta-sitosterol found in the seeds.

Black cumin also:

*stimulates energy and helps in recovery from fatigue and low spirits.
*is an effective cure for skin conditions such as allergies, eczema, acne, psoriasis and boils.
*is anti-parasitic.
*treats flatulence, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, constipation and dysentery.

NOTE: Those who decide to use black cumin seed oil should check labels and product information carefully. Black cumin is commonly referred to as black seed oil, black onion seed, black caraway, black sesame seed, and other names, but only Nigella sativa is true black cumin.

Skin cancer cured!

How I Healed My Mother’s Skin Cancer At Home

coconutbakingsoda

For the last 3 years, my mother had been suffering with a type of skin cancer called Basal Cell Carcinoma. This is the less aggressive form of skin cancer, deemed as non-life threatening by the medical industry, in contrast to the more malignant form of skin cancer known as Melanoma.

The basal cell first began as a small red lesion on the crown of my mother’s head. It would start to bleed, then scab, then bleed again and then scab more.

The scab continued to grow and over the course of 3 years it nearly quadrupled in size. Not only did it grow wider, but it grew higher as well. Unfortunately, it took this long before my mother finally decided to go to the doctor.

She was referred to a Dermatologist by her GP. A biopsy was done and the lesion was confirmed as cancerous. At the initial consultation the Dermatologist said what every doctor says: “There is no cure for Basal Cell Carcinoma, but we can surgically remove it.”
He couldn’t guarantee that it wouldn’t return. Regardless, she scheduled an appointment to have it removed.

Not too long after the surgery, the basal cell returned – this time with a vengeance. It seemed to grow much quicker, and within two weeks after the surgery the bleeding and scabbing was back again. It was extremely frustrating to witness this, and I truly felt powerless over the matter. I made the decision to go to the Dermatologist with my mother on her next visit, and I was prepared to ask him a plethora of questions, my first question being, “What the heck is this thing???”
That is when I learned the medical term for this type of skin cancer.

Taking Matters Into Our Own Hands

Equipped with the term ‘Basal Cell Carcinoma’ and Google, I researched everything I could about it, including natural treatments. I recalled reading some articles about how sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda, has a high success rate with various types of cancers, so I looked into the topical use of baking soda on basal cells. Surprisingly, I found quite a few personal testimonies from people who had healed a basal cell completely, using just baking soda and water.  Cancer cannot thrive in an alkaline environment. And that’s exactly what baking soda produces.

My mother had the basal cell removed surgically twice more before she finally let me try the baking soda treatment. And 5 weeks ago is when this treatment began.

I modified the concoction by using coconut oil instead of water, as raw organic coconut oil helps in the regeneration of skin cells. I mixed one part baking soda and one part coconut oil (a teaspoon of each) in a shot glass and stirred it up until it became a malleable paste, which is what I applied to the affected area. The results were truly astonishing.

Please keep in mind that starting at an early age my mother began to experience hair loss.  However, as a result of less hair it was much easier to apply the treatment, and the effect of the treatment was more visible.

The Method I Used

– Raw organic coconut oil (the brand I used was Artisana)
– Aluminum-free baking soda (I purchased it at a holistic health food store)
– A shot glass, to effectively stir the mixture within
– Something to stir the mixture with, I used the narrow handle of a small metal spoon.
– Polysporin Triple 3 Antibiotics, or any other antibiotic ointment to apply at night

I stirred 1 part baking soda and 1 part coconut oil in a shot glass until it became a malleable paste that was easy to apply. It helped to apply a bit of warmth to melt the coconut oil faster – I let the shot glass run under hot water for a bit.

Using the handle of the spoon that I stirred with, I applied the mixture to the affected area. I DID NOT RUB IT IN. Instead I gently slathered the area with the paste and let it remain there for as long as possible. Then I applied a shower cap to keep the treatment in place.

I aimed for 3 applications a day for the first week, and 2 for the second week moving forward, and made sure to properly clean the affected area before each application.

A basal cell has roots that reach much deeper into the skin than it appears, it is not just on the surface, therefor I learned that it is important to continue using the treatment much longer, even when the skin has fully patched up.

What We All Learned From This Experience

Looking back at the start of this whole experience, I realize that I was just as skeptical as most people with regards to a successful treatment that costs only a few dollars, not to mention one that is sitting in my kitchen pantry! I completely understand why a simple solution like baking soda and coconut oil would be cast aside in favor of a more ‘sophisticated’ treatment.

While I am by no means completely against mainstream or allopathic medicine, it is my opinion that we have been heavily conditioned by the medical industry to believe that we have absolutely no power over our own physical and mental health, and that the solutions and cures to our ailments lie far beyond our reach; that only a large sum of money can buy a cure.
I can’t stress enough that this is simply not true.

Throughout the progress of my mother’s healing, my whole family had experienced first hand how effective an alternative treatment can be. Not only is it effective – it is affordable, safe, and free of side-effects. Needless to say, my family’s opinion on mainstream/allopathic medicine has shifted significantly.

My hope is that people who are going through a similar experience can come to understand the power is in their hands to heal themselves. No one is going to spoon-feed us the truth about how we can heal using simple and affordable methods – especially not the medical industry. We must do our own research and reclaim our healing power.

Blessings, namaste and much love,
Kyneret

zeolite 263x164 Discover an Effective, Easy, and Inexpensive Heavy Metal Detox Agent

If you’ve been tracking alternative health news here on Natural Society or elsewhere long enough, you should be well aware of how ubiquitous heavy metals are in our environment and foods. You should also know that they are toxic, and tend to get trapped in our body tissues. NaturalSociety has already unveiled numerous ways to detox heavy metals from the body, but let’s add another detox agent to the list – zeolite.

Eliminating Heavy Metal Toxins Safely, Effectively, and Cheaply

Mercury, aluminum, and lead all cause neurological damage. We are all exposed to them from medical and dental applications, processed foods, old paint coverings and plumbing, industrial waste pollutants, and even chemtrails. Heavy metal molecules tend to be stubbornly enmeshed in internal tissue matter or remain in the blood because they cannot be metabolized or filtered out easily by the liver and kidneys or eliminated through the skin with perspiration. This situation leads to long term bad health issues, DNA damage, and disease. It is essential to detox these heavy metals out to experience enhanced health.

Any kind of detoxification, even sweating, lifts some burden off of the body’s immune system and encourages internal organ homeostasis (balance) to occur and promote healing. People who are ill get well, and people who are not apparently ill feel younger, stronger, and happier.

Related Read: Sweating Detoxes Heavy Metals

But sweating alone is probably not enough. You may have heard of chelation therapy, which is pricey, a tad risky, and requires a medically trained person to administer. What about detoxing from heavy metals and other toxins at home cheaply? You can try consuming these 6 foods for heavy metal chelation, or you could try utilizing the inexpensive solution below.

Zeolite to the rescue. Unfortunately, zeolite’s reputation may have been tarnished somewhat by pricey multilevel marketing (MLM) companies who claim to have the best  liquid zeolite. I was involved with a couple of them years ago. The thing about liquid zeolites is that they are heavily processed from volcanic mineral rocks with extreme heat and acids. So their detox results are questionable.

Comparative testing has demonstrated the ability to draw out toxic heavy metals known as the CEC (cation exchange capacity) of liquid zeolite comes nowhere near the CEC of pure (safe for human consumption) Clinoptilolite rock mineral zeolites.

Cations are positively charged ions or groups of atoms, such as heavy metals, that are attracted to negatively charged items, such as zeolite particles.

How Zeolite Works

Zeolite particles are negatively charged nano-cages. Each tiny cage has a negative charge to attract positively charged heavy metals out of tissues and blood and into those cages. Then the cages are eliminated through normal bodily functions without endangering other tissue.

While the ingested-with-water zeolite is slowly traveling through the small intestines, the millions of tiny hair-like intestinal villi are coated with the zeolite. The villi are the nutrient absorbing gateways from the intestines to the bloodstream. From there the blood gets purified by zeolite without crossing the blood brain barrier.

The mechanics of this process eliminates the possibility of toxic materials re-entering other organ tissues after being flushed out. It’s truly a chelation process.

Adsorption is the process of electronically attracting and binding rather than absorbing like a sponge. So zeolite adsorbs and chelates heavy metals.

That’s why the easily internalized adsorbing, chelating activity of zeolite is so vital for optimum health in today’s toxic world.

Detoxing Beyond Heavy Metals

In addition to removing toxic heavy metals and other chemicals, zeolite tends to raise overall pH with higher alkalinity. It’s been (arguably) strongly established throughout all medical worlds that low body pH or acidity is the “stagnant water” that attracts pathogens to flourish as well as creating an unusual type of cellular metabolism called cancer.

Zeolite also helps you eliminate radiation poisoning, another increasingly ubiquitous menace throughout the world. The Russians gave zeolite freely to children who were exposed to Chernobyl’s radiation from that reactor’s disastrous meltdown.

Some people are concerned with zeolite’s technical description as a porous crystalline aluminosilicate. However, the aluminum in zeolite is bound with silica. Unbound free aluminum is toxic, but bound within a compound molecular structure it’s harmless. Instead, it removes unbound aluminum toxins from the body.

Also, beneficial minerals such as magnesium are not attracted to zeolites. So one will not have beneficial minerals depleted from the body detoxing with zeolite.

Many individuals who have tried using zeolite in rock powder form have obtained a sense of improved health, well-being, and mental clarity that was almost forgotten.

Blow your socks off with lemons!

45 uses for lemons that will blow your socks off

July 11, 2013 at 11:20 am
Lemon or Lime

by John Summerly – Preventdisease.com

1. Freshen the Fridge

Remove refrigerator odors with ease. Dab lemon juice on a cotton ball or sponge and leave it in the fridge for several hours. Make sure to toss out any malodorous items that might be causing the bad smell.

2. High Blood Pressure

Lemon contains potassium which controls high blood pressure and reduces the effect of nausea and dizziness.

3. Prevent Cauliflower From Turning Brown

Cauliflower tend to turn brown with even the slightest cooking. You can make sure the white vegetables stay white by squeezing a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice on them before heating.

4. Mental Health

Lemon water can also prep up your mood and relieve you from depression and stress. Long distance walkers and world travelers as well as explorers look upon the lemon as a Godsend. When fatigue begins, a lemon is sucked through a hole in the top. Quick acting medicine it is, giving almost unbelievable refreshments.

5. Refresh Cutting Boards

No wonder your kitchen cutting board smells! After all, you use it to chop onions, crush garlic, and prepare fish. To get rid of the smell and help sanitize the cutting board, rub it all over with the cut side of half a lemon or wash it in undiluted juice straight from the bottle.

6. Respiratory Problems

Lemon water can reduce phlegm; and can also help you breathe properly and aids a person suffering with asthma.

7. Treating Arthritis and Rheumatism

Lemon is a diuretic – assists in the production of urine which helps you to reduce inflammation by flushing out toxins and bacteria while also giving you relief from arthritis and rheumatism.

8. Prevents Kidney Stones

Regular consumption of the refreshing drink — or even lemon juice mixed with water — may increase the production of urinary citrate, a chemical in the urine that prevents the formation of crystals that may build up into kidney stones.

9. Keep Insects Out of the Kitchen

You don’t need insecticides or ant traps to ant-proof your kitchen. Just give it the lemon treatment. First squirt some lemon juice on door thresholds and windowsills. Then squeeze lemon juice into any holes or cracks where the ants are getting in. Finally, scatter small slices of lemon peel around the outdoor entrance. The ants will get the message that they aren’t welcome. Lemons are also effective against roaches and fleas: Simply mix the juice of 4 lemons (along with the rinds) with 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water and wash your floors with it; then watch the fleas and roaches flee. They hate the smell.

10. Anti-Aging

Lemon water reduces the production of free radicals which are responsible for aging skin and skin damage. Lemon water is calorie free and an antioxidant.

11. Fruit and Vegetable Wash

You never know what kind of pesticides or dirt may be lurking on the skin of your favorite fruits and vegetables. Slice your lemon and squeeze out one tablespoon of lemon juice into your spray bottle. The lemon juice is a natural disinfectant and will leave your fruits and vegetables smelling nice too.

lemon water12. Treat Infections

Lemon water can fight throat infections thanks to its antibacterial property. If salt water does not work for you, try lime and water for gargling.

13. Deodorize Your Garbage

If your garbage is beginning to smell yucky, here’s an easy way to deodorize it: Save leftover lemon and orange peels and toss them at the base under the bag. To keep it smelling fresh, repeat once every couple of weeks.

14. Keep Guacamole Green

You’ve been making guacamole all day long for the big party, and you don’t want it to turn brown on top before the guests arrive. The solution: Sprinkle a liberal amount of fresh lemon juice over it and it will stay fresh and green. The flavor of the lemon juice is a natural complement to the avocados in the guacamole. Make the fruit salad hours in advance too. Just squeeze some lemon juice onto the apple slices, and they’ll stay snowy white.

15. Purges The Blood

We consume a lot of junk food or food with a lot of preservatives and artificial flavours. This builds up a lot of toxins in the blood and body but daily consumption of lemon water helps to purify the blood.

16. Make Soggy Lettuce Crisp

Don’t toss that soggy lettuce into the garbage. With the help of a little lemon juice you can toss it in a salad instead. Add the juice of half a lemon to a bowl of cold water. Then put the soggy lettuce in it and refrigerate for 1 hour. Make sure to dry the leaves completely before putting them into salads or sandwiches.

17. Oral Health

Lemon juice also stops bleeding gums and reduces toothaches

18. Lighten Age Spots

Why buy expensive creams when you’ve got lemon juice? To lighten liver spots or freckles, try applying lemon juice directly to the area. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse your skin clean. It’s a safe and effective skin-lightening agent.

19. Create Blonde Highlights

For salon-worthy highlights, add 1/4 cup lemon juice to 3/4 cup water and rinse your hair with the mixture. Then, sit in the sun until your hair dries. To maximize the effect, repeat once daily for up to a week.

20. Make a Room Scent/Humidifier

Freshen and moisturize the air in your home on dry winter days. Make your own room scent that also doubles as a humidifier. If you have a wood-burning stove, place an enameled cast-iron pot or bowl on top, fill with water, and add lemon (and/or orange) peels, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and apple skins. No wood-burning stove? Use your stovetop instead and just simmer the water periodically.

21. Clean and Whiten Nails

Pamper your hands without a manicurist. Add the juice of 1/2 lemon to 1 cup warm water and soak your fingertips in the mixture for 5 minutes. After pushing back the cuticles, rub some lemon peel back and forth against the nail.

22. Cleanse Your Face

Zap zits naturally by dabbing lemon juice on blackheads to draw them out during the day. You can also wash your face with lemon juice for a natural cleanse and exfoliation. Your skin should improve after several days of treatment. Lemon water is also a cooling agent, best way to beat the heat.

23. Freshen Your Breath

Make an impromptu mouthwash by rinsing with lemon juice straight from the bottle. Swallow for longer-lasting fresh breath. The citric acid in the juice alters the pH level in your mouth, killing bacteria that causes bad breath. Rinse after a few minutes because long-term exposure to the acid in lemons can harm tooth enamel.

24. Treat Flaky Dandruff

If itchy, scaly dandruff has you scratching your head, relief may be no farther away than your refrigerator. Just massage two tablespoons lemon juice into your scalp and rinse with water. Then stir one teaspoon lemon juice into one cup water and rinse your hair with it. Repeat daily until your dandruff disappears.

25. Get Rid of Tough Stains on Marble

You probably think of marble as stone, but it is really petrified calcium (also known as old seashells). That explains why it is so porous and easily stained and damaged. Those stains can be hard to remove. If washing won’t remove a stubborn stain, try this: Cut a lemon in half, dip the exposed flesh into some table salt, and rub it vigorously on the stain. But do this only as a last resort; acid can damage marble. Rinse well. Use These Lemons To Clean – Easy and Effective

26. Remove Berry Stains

It sure was fun to pick your own berries, but now your fingers are stained with berry juice that won’t come off no matter how much you scrub with soap and water. Try washing your hands with undiluted lemon juice, then wait a few minutes and wash with warm, soapy water. Repeat until your hands are stain-free.

27. Soften Dry, Scaly Elbows

Itchy elbows are bad enough, but they look terrible too. For better looking (and feeling) elbows, mix baking soda and lemon juice to make an abrasive paste, then rub it into your elbows for a soothing, smoothing, and exfoliating treatment. Rinse your extremities in a mixture of equal parts lemon juice and water, then massage with olive oil and dab dry with a soft cloth.

28. Headaches

Lemon juice with a few teaspoons of hot tea added is the treatment of a sophisticated New York bartender, for those who suffer with hangover headaches–and from headaches due to many other causes. He converts his customers to this regime, and weans them away from drug remedies completely.

29. Chills and Fevers

Chills and fevers may be due to a variety of causes; never the less the lemon is always a helpful remedy. Spanish physicians regard it as an infallible friend.

30. Diptheria

Skip the vaccine for this disease. Lemon Juice Treatment still proves as one of the most powerful antiseptics and the strong digestive qualities of the fruit are admired around the world. With the juice every hour or two, and at the same time, 1/2 to 1 tsp. should be swallowed. This cuts loose the false membrane in the throat and permits it to come out.

31. Vaginal Hygiene

Diluted lemon juice makes a safe and sane method of vaginal hygiene. Though it is a powerful antiseptic it is nevertheless free from irritating drugs in douches and suppositories.

32. Forget The Moth Balls

A charming French custom to keep closets free from moths is to take ripe lemons and stick them with cloves all over the skin. The heavily studded lemons slowly dry with their cloves, leaving a marvelous odor throughout the closets and rooms.

33. Stomach Health

Digestive problems are the most common ailments but warm water and lime juice is the solution to most digestive problems. Lemon juice helps to purify the blood, reduces your chances of indigestion, constipation, eliminates toxins from the body, adds digestion and reduces phlegm.

34. Disinfect Cuts and Scrapes

Stop bleeding and disinfect minor cuts and scraps by pouring a few drops of lemon juice directly on the cut. You can also apply the juice with a cotton ball and hold firmly in place for one minute.

35. Soothe Poison Ivy Rash

You won’t need an ocean of calamine lotion the next time poison ivy comes a-creeping. Just apply lemon juice directly to the affected area to soothe itching and alleviate the rash.

36. Remove Warts

You’ve tried countless remedies to banish warts and nothing seems to work. Next time, apply a dab of lemon juice directly to the wart using a cotton swab. Repeat for several days until the acids in the lemon juice dissolve the wart completely.

37. Bleach Delicate Fabrics

Avoid additional bleach stains by swapping ordinary household chlorine bleach with lemon juice, which is milder but no less effective. Soak your delicates in a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda for at least half an hour before washing.

38. Clean Tarnished Brass and Polish Chrome

Say good-bye to tarnish on brass, copper, or stainless steel. Make a paste of lemon juice and salt (or substitute baking soda or cream of tartar for the salt) and coat the affected area. Let it stay on for 5 minutes. Then wash in warm water, rinse, and polish dry. Use the same mixture to clean metal kitchen sinks too. Apply the paste, scrub gently, and rinse. Get rid of mineral deposits and polish chrome faucets and other tarnished chrome. Simply rub lemon rind over the chrome and watch it shine! Rinse well and dry with a soft cloth.

39. Replace Your Dry Cleaner

Ditch the expensive dry-cleaning bills (and harsh chemicals) with this homegrown trick. Simply scrub the stained area on shirts and blouses with equal parts lemon juice and water. Your “pits” will be good as new, and smell nice too.

40. Boost Laundry Detergent

For more powerful cleaning action, pour 1 cup lemon juice into the washer during the wash cycle. The natural bleaching action of the juice will zap stains and remove rust and mineral discolorations from cotton T-shirts and briefs and will leave your clothes smelling fresh. Your clothes will turn out brighter and also come out smelling lemon-fresh.

41. Rid Clothes of Mildew

Have you ever unpacked clothes you stored all winter and discovered some are stained with mildew? To get rid of it, make a paste of lemon juice and salt and rub it on the affected area, then dry the clothes in sunlight. Repeat the process until the stain is gone.

42. Eliminate Fireplace Odor

There’s nothing cozier on a cold winter night than a warm fire burning in the fireplace — unless the fire happens to smell horrible. Next time you have a fire that sends a stench into the room, try throwing a few lemon peels into the flames. Or simply burn some lemon peels along with your firewood as a preventive measure.

43. Neutralize Cat-Box Odor

You don’t have to use an aerosol spray to neutralize foul-smelling cat-box odors or freshen the air in your bathroom. Just cut a couple of lemons in half. Then place them, cut side up, in a dish in the room, and the air will soon smell lemon-fresh.

44. Deodorize a Humidifier

When your humidifier starts to smell funky, deodorize it with ease: Just pour 3 or 4 teaspoons lemon juice into the water. It will not only remove the off odor but will replace it with a lemon-fresh fragrance. Repeat every couple of weeks to keep the odor from returning.

45. Reduce Asthma Symptoms

In addition to a general detoxifying diet, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice before each meal, and before retiring can reduce asthma symptoms.

Hair quality improvers

Four natural remedies that improve

hair quality and growth

HAIR

by Michael Ravensthorpe

(NaturalNews) Virtually all cultures in the world view thick, lustrous hair as a symbol of vitality, youthfulness, and healthfulness. Consequently, hair improvement products in all forms (shampoos, conditioners, hair loss creams, etc.) are international, billion-dollar industries. Some of these products receive good reviews, while others receive bad reviews. Regardless of their efficacy, however, few if any of them could be described as ‘natural.’ Their ingredients list usually reads like a chemistry set, and health-conscious individuals are understandably reluctant to use them. What follows, then, is a list of four natural remedies that are renowned for improving hair quality and growth in both sexes.

Great remedies for improving hair quality

Blackstrap molasses – Blackstrap is a dark, thick syrup that contains all of the trace minerals extracted from the sugar cane plant during the sugar refinement process. As it happens, one of those minerals is copper – an absolutely essential ingredient for healthy hair since it helps the production of the skin and hair pigment melanin. For best results, ingest two tablespoons of blackstrap molasses per day, preferably first thing in the morning. You’ll begin noticing improvements in hair quality within weeks. Consistent monthly use may return your hair to its original color.

Cayenne pepper – Cayenne is a great remedy for improving hair thickness. Indeed, ancient doctors used to treat alopecia using tonics comprised of it. This is because cayenne increases blood flow, which in turn nourishes the scalp and stimulates hair growth. It is a good idea to mix cayenne with an oil such as olive oil, however – pouring raw cayenne powder over your scalp without lubrication is not a pleasant experience!

Coconut milk or oil – These two coconut products have always been linked with non-flaking, shiny, healthy hair. For best results with coconut oil, mix it with a little avocado, spread the mixture on your hair, and then rinse with warm water after 30 minutes. Coconut milk, on the other hand, can be used like a regular shampoo – just massage it into your scalp and leave it there for 30 minutes.

Saw palmetto – There is a good reason why this North American plant is a main ingredient in conventional hair products – it really does boost luster and thickness. Funnily enough, we haven’t yet learned why it is so effective, although several researchers believe it is because the plant blocks an enzyme, 5-alpha-reductase, from converting testosterone into dihydrotesosterone. The latter is a hormone that is linked to progressive alopecia and other hair-related conditions.

The great thing about these four remedies is their versatility. For example, you could take two tablespoons of blackstrap molasses per day whilst washing your hair with coconut milk every other day. Alternatively, you could take a 20 drops of cayenne pepper tincture mixed with water while scrubbing your hair with a homemade blackstrap molasses and saw palmetto shampoo. In fact, you can make a shampoo made from all four remedies mixed together – the concoction may not look or smell nice, but your hair will love it!

Black Seed: the Remedy for Everything But Death

Black Seed: the Remedy for Everything But Death

By Sayer Ji

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

This humble but immensely powerful seed kills MRSA, heals the chemical weapon poisoned body, stimulates regeneration of the dying beta cells within the diabetic’s pancreas, and yet too few even know it exists.

The seeds of the annual flowering plant, Nigella Sativa, have been prized for their healing properties since time immemorial.  While frequently referred to among English-speaking cultures as Roman coriander, black sesame, black cumin, black caraway and onion seed, it is known today primarily as black seed, which is at the very least an accurate description of its physical appearance.

The earliest record of its cultivation and use come from ancient Egypt. Black seed oil, in fact, was found in Egyptian pharoah Tutankhamun’s tomb, dating back to approximately 3,300 years ago.[i]  In Arabic cultures, black cumin is so known as Habbatul barakah, meaning the “seed of blessing.” It is also believed that the Islamic prophet Mohammed said of it that it is “a remedy for all diseases except death.”

Many of black cumin’s traditionally ascribed health benefits have been thoroughly confirmed in the biomedical literature. In fact, since 1964, there have been 458 published, peer-reviewed studies referencing it.

We have indexed salient research, available to view on GreenMedInfo.com on our Black Seed(Nigella Sativa) page, on well over 40 health conditions that may be benefited from the use of the herb, including over 20 distinct pharmacological actions it expresses, such as:

  • Analgesic (Pain-Killing)
  • Anti-Bacterial
  • Anti-Inflammatory
  • Anti-Ulcer
  • Anti-Cholinergic
  • Anti-Fungal
  • Ant-Hypertensive
  • Antioxidant
  • Antispasmodic
  • Antiviral
  • Bronchodilator
  • Gluconeogenesis Inhibitor (Anti-Diabetic)
  • Hepatoprotective (Liver Protecting)
  • Hypotensive
  • Insulin Sensitizing
  • Interferon Inducer
  • Leukotriene Antagonist
  • Renoprotective (Kidney Protecting)
  • Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Inhibitor

These 22 pharmacological actions are only a subset of a far wider number of beneficial properties intrinsic to the black seed. While it is remarkable that this seed has the ability to positively modulate so many different biological pathways, this is actually a rather common occurrence among traditional plant medicines.

Our project has identified over 1600 natural compounds with a wide range of health benefits, and we are only in our first 5 years of casual indexing. There are tens of thousands of other substances that have already been researched, with hundreds of thousands of studies supporting their medicinal value (MEDLINE, whence our study abstracts come, has over 600,000 studies classified as related to Complementary and Alternative Medicine).

Take turmeric, for example. We have identified research indicating its value in over 600 health conditions, while also expressing over 160 different potentially beneficial pharmacological actions. You can view the quick summary of over 1500 studies we have summarized on our Turmeric Researchpage, which includes an explorative video on turmeric. Professional database members are further empowered to manipulate the results according to their search criteria, i.e. pull up and print to PDF the 61 studies on turmeric and breast cancer.  This, of course, should help folks realize how voluminous the supportive literature indicating the medicinal value of natural substances, such as turmeric and black seed, really is.

Black seed has been researched for very specific health conditions. Some of the most compelling applications include:

  • Type 2 Diabetes: Two grams of black seed a day resulted in reduced fasting glucose, decreased insulin resistance, increased beta-cell function, and reduced glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in human subjects.[ii]
  • Helicobacter Pylori Infection: Black seeds possess clinically useful anti-H. pylori activity, comparable to triple eradication therapy.[iii]
  • Epilepsy: Black seeds were traditionally known to have anticonvulsive properties. A 2007 study with epileptic children, whose condition was refractory to conventional drug treatment, found that a water extract significantly reduced seizure activity.[iv]
  • High Blood pressure: The daily use of 100 and 200 mg of black seed extract, twice daily, for 2 months, was found to have a blood pressure-lowering effect in patients with mild hypertension.[v]
  • Asthma: Thymoquinone, one of the main active constituents within Nigella sativa (black cumin), is superior to the drug fluticasone in an animal model of asthma.[vi] Another study, this time in human subjects, found that boiled water extracts of black seed have relatively potent antiasthmatic effect on asthmatic airways.[vii]
  • Acute tonsillopharyngitis: characterized by tonsil or pharyngeal inflammation (i.e. sore throat), mostly viral in origin, black seed capsules (in combination with Phyllanthus niruri) have been found to significantly alleviate throat pain, and reduce the need for pain-killers, in human subjects.[viii]
  • Chemical Weapons Injury: A randomized, placebo-controlled human study of chemical weapons injured patients found that boiled water extracts of black seed reduced respiratory symptoms, chest wheezing, and pulmonary function test values, as well as reduced the need for drug treatment.[ix]
  • Colon Cancer: Cell studies have found that black seed extract compares favorably to the chemoagent 5-fluoruracil in the suppression of colon cancer growth, but with a far higher safety profile.[x] Animal research has found that black seed oil has significant inhibitory effects against colon cancer in rats, without observable side effects.[xi]
  • MRSA: Black seed has anti-bacterial activity against clinical isolates of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus.[xii]
  • Opiate Addiction/Withdrawal: A study on 35 opiate addicts found black seed as an effective therapy in long-term treatment of opioid dependence.[xiii]

Sometimes the biblical reference to ‘faith the size of a mustard seed moving mountains’ comes to mind in connection with natural substances like black seeds. After all, do seeds not contain within them the very hope for continuance of the entire species that bore it?  This super-saturated state of the seed, where life condenses itself down into an intensely miniaturized holographic fragment of itself, promising the formation of future worlds within itself, is the very emblem of life’s immense and immortal power.

If we understand the true nature of the seed, how much life (past, present and future) is contained within it, it will not seem so far-fetched that it is capable of conquering antibiotic resistant bacteria, healing the body from chemical weapons poisoning, or stimulate the regeneration of dying insulin-producing beta cells in the diabetic, to name but only a fraction of black seed’s experimentally-confirmed powers.

Moving the mountain of inertia and falsity associated with the conventional concept of disease, is a task well-suited for seeds and not chemicals. The greatest difference, of course, between a seed and a patented synthetic chemical (i.e. pharmaceutical drug), is that Nature (God) made the former, and men with profit-motives and a deranged understanding of the nature of the body made the latter.

The time, no doubt, has come for food, seeds, herbs, plants, sunlight, air, clean water, and yes, love, to assume once again their central place in medicine, which is to say, the art and science of facilitating self-healing within the human body. Failing this, the conventional medical system will crumble under the growing weight of its own corruption, ineptitude, and iatrogenic suffering (and subsequent financial liability) it causes. To the degree that it reforms itself, utilizing non-patented and non-patentable natural compounds with actual healing properties, a brighter future awaits on the horizon. To the degree that it fails, folks will learn to take back control over their health themselves, which is why black seed, and other food-medicines, hold the key to self-empowerment.

The natural approach to colds and ‘flu prevention

Modern-medicine loses the flu-fight to Mother Nature…
Discover why the natural approach to colds and flu prevention is more effective than modern-medicine…

Dear flu-season dreader,
Winter is here and that means the dreaded flu season is too!

Having to live with a sore throat, annoying cough and never-ending runny nose that cause you to make expensive trip after expensive trip to the doctor is exhausting…

So the obvious thing to do is round up your family and go for an annual flu shot, right?

But is that the most effective way to protect you and your family from colds and flu?

Does it really do what doctors claim?

Studies show the flu shot is practically useless

A 2011 study published in the Lancet Journal conducted by the University of Minnesota has revealed that 1.5 of every 100 adults who get the flu shot will avoid getting the flu. That means 98.5 get sick even though they’ve had the vaccine. Proof that the flu shot isn’t nearly as effective as doctors claim it is in preventing colds and flu. In fact, it’s just about useless!

But that’s not all…

In 2009, the Cochrane Collaboration (an independent research organisation) reviewed every flu vaccine study conducted between 1948 and 2007. Their conclusion: “There is no evidence whatsoever that seasonal influenza vaccines have any effect, especially in the elderly and young children”.

And this year, the US Centre for Disease Control found that for people over the age of 65 – the population most at risk of developing serious health complications from flu – the 2013 vaccine failed at preventing illness nine out of ten times…
Flu shots aren’t only useless, they’re dangerous too

But that’s not even the worst of it…

You see, flu shots may contain harmful poisons like these:
1. Thimerosal (a mercury derivative added as a preservative) – mercury is a toxic heavy metal that can lead to severe speech and vision impairment.
2. Formaldehyde (to kill viruses) – a carcinogen that can cause serious respiratory problems such as bronchitis, pneumonia or pulmonary oedema.
3. Aluminum (to promote antibody response) – which is suspected of causing Alzheimer’s amongst other illnesses.
4. Ethylene glycol (also known as antifreeze) – known to cause kidney and liver damage without showing symptoms.
But the flu shot isn’t the only cold and flu modern-medicine that doesn’t do what it’s meant to…

Recent press reports have reported on the dangers of cough syrup for children and have concluded that cough syrup doesn’t work either…

According to reports, no cough remedies have ever been proven to be better than a placebo for adults or children.

Antibiotics are a “wonder drug” in the medical world – no one is disputing that. But, while your doctor will no doubt prescribe them to you for a viral cold or flu in case you develop a bacterial infection… This overuse of antibiotics has resulted in much more resistant bacteria.

According to Dr Richard Rosenfeld of State University of New York Downstate Medical Centre: “The bacteria that do survive the antibiotics get tough and harder to manage”. That means antibiotics will only be able to do so much before they can’t effectively fight bacterial infections anymore…

And if that’s not enough, side effects like nausea, allergic reactions and severe abdominal cramps seem like a big price to pay for a failed attempt at fighting off a viral infection!

Why take harmful flu shots and ineffective modern-medicine when there are all-safe, all-natural ways to protect you and your family from colds and flu this winter?

Why rely on modern-medicine when Mother Nature’s much more effective

The natural approach to protecting you and your family from colds and flu has been overshadowed by the pharmaceutical industry for far too long!

After all, with modern medicine come unwanted side effects that could result in long-term health complications.

The stats don’t lie! Just because you get a flu shot, doesn’t mean you won’t end up getting sick or have to resort to paying a visit to your doctor…

If you’re serious about flu protection, take the more natural approach.

For example, studies show that one vitamin is crucial in preventing colds and flu and can cut your risk of coming down with the flu by 50%!

But, this vitamin isn’t the only natural source of protection you can use to fight colds and flu…
There are:
• Three vegetables that can also help to reinforce your body’s natural defences…
• Spices and herbs sitting in your kitchen cupboard that can protect you from germs…
• As well as an aphrodisiac that can boost your immune system…
• And much more…
And while prevention is better than cure, if you do happen to still get sick… Luckily, Mother Nature’s covered that angle too…
Fight colds and flu the natural way…

Did you know: You can…
• Shorten your flu attack by four days with one fruit extract…
• Ease nasal congestion with two commonly found herbs…
• Kill a wide range of viruses without causing any side-effects with one plant leaf…
• Get much-needed relief from annoying coughs and chest pains with this one flower…
• And much more…
So while doctors and mainstream media push you to get your yearly flu shots year after year, the truth is a man-made lab vaccine can’t protect you from colds and flu as effectively as Mother Nature can…

And that’s why today, I want you to discover all-natural cold and flu prevention secrets as well as natural flu-fighting remedies you can use to protect your family from the flu season this winter.
