Japan – Salute to the people

10 great things to learn from the amazing people of JAPAN

1. THE CALM

Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated and they were found helping each other and not looking at governmental and non-governmental agencies for any help.

2. THE DIGNITY

Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture, they were not even thinking of hoarding of food for the other day.

3. THE ABILITY

The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn’t fall, now one can understand what “MADE IN JAPAN” means.

4. THE GRACE

People bought more for other needy ones than their ownselves, thinking they need it more than anybody, this thought prevailed all over the country.

5. THE ORDER

No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding, Is this patience behind their success?

6. THE SACRIFICE

Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid? This is only petty example of Japan for the love of the people and country when they only need help from others.

7. THE TENDERNESS

Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared the weak.

8. THE TRAINING

The old, young and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.

9. THE MEDIA

They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage, not the horrific scenes repeated every other minute to show the presence of the channel more than the need of the hour.

10. THE CONSCIENCE

When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly.

Unfortunately this is the second worst calamity happened in Japan, first in Nagasaki, Hiroshima in Japan and now the tsunami in Fukushima.

Can we at least try honestly to appreciate these brave and patriotic people who believe in nature and value survival of others before their own?

Can we ever change ourselves to match these brave and nice people anyways?

Be honest and assess how good we are.

Have a nice day
